FYI's Staff

The FYI Center of Milwaukee, Inc. is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of diverse community minded leaders who contribute their combined decades of experience in organizational leadership. The Board members dedicate their skills and compassion to ensure the programs and services of the FYI Center meet the needs of youth aging out of the foster care system.

Executive Director, James A. Pekrul, is a former foster care youth who is now a State of Wisconsin licensed foster parent of older youth and is Community Based Facility (CBRF) certified. He has extensive experience in case management and supervision of programs and is currently working towards his degree in Social Welfare at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Mr. Pekrul has eight years of experience developing and implementing youth programs and working with at risk youth in Milwaukee, including the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin's True Colors youth program and the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center's Project Q Youth Initiative. Activities organized within these programs included underage non-alcoholic dance nights and other social events, discussion and focus groups, peer education training, HIV testing, counseling and outreach, and cross-generational mentoring activities for at risk youth.
