FYI's Philosophy
It is the core philosophy of the FYI-Center that youth transitioning out of foster care requires attention and assistance prior to the age of 18 in order to facilitate a successful transition into independence. This type of intervention is essential to avoid youth immediately entering into a form of “crisis” at age 18. FYI-Center will take a more aggressive role in initiating a relationship with youth in the foster care rather than relying on the youth to initiate the relationship. Finally, FYI-Center recognizes that the transition of a youth into independence should be seamless and should not separate this phase of a youth’s life into “pre-foster care” and “post-foster care.” In order to accomplish, FYI-Center embraces a holistic approach and utilize state of the art program tools. We have recognized tools and resources in the field that have been designed and recommended for this population.
Mission
The FYI Center is committed to providing youth who are aging out of the Foster Care System with programs and services that help them transition from custodial care to living independently in their communities.
Vision
We seek to improve the lives of youth aging out of the foster care system by developing a dedicated social service agency to address their needs using state of the art programs and best practices.
