Welcome!

The FYI Center is dedicated to providing emancipated youth, youth aging out of the foster care system and their respective families with programs and services that help them transition from custodial care to living independently in their communities.

It is the core philosophy and the basis for the programming at the FYI Center to reach these youth before they are emancipated.

We arethe only agency in the Stare of Wisconsin soley dedicated to preparing foster care youth for their transition out of the foster care system.

The Foster Youth Independence Center of Milwaukee, Inc. is a 501 c(3) nonprofit agency, incorporated in 2003.

From the Executive Director:

I hope all staff, program participants, volunteers, visitors, board members and donors who visit the FYI Center will have a positive and fulfilling experience. It is my hope and wish to give back to a system that took away so much from me and my family. I never thought anything positive would come from my experiences in foster care, but I guess we are all capable of finding some good in something that is broken. I challenge each youth who is a participant of the FYI Center to look within themselves and find their inner strength. With the necessary tools and resources, aging out of foster care doesn't have to be a horrible and fearful experience - it can be a positive beginning to a new chapter in one's life.
